2009 PEI Fall Youth Camp

Line Up of Seminar Conductors for Fall Youth Camp Announced

 Skate Canada PEI Secion is please to introduce the conductors for the Fall Youth Camp to be held on Friday November 6th at the APM Center in Cornwall. Krista Smith is an NCCP Level 3 (4 Level 4 Tasks) from the Glouster Skating Club in Ontario. She has 18 years experience and has coached skaters to Sectional medals and Divisional Levels. Her specialty is in choreography and ice theater. She has twice choreographed the Winterlude Ice Show on the Rideau Canal and was Director and Choreographer for the closing ceremonies at the Canadain Figure Skating Champioships. Krista says "I love to skate" and  she can't wait to pass on this love of skating to young skaters here on the Island. Kara Grant is a PEI Olympian who competes internationally for Canada in the sport of modern pentathlon competing in both the 2004 and 2008 Olympic games. Kara now lives in Stratford Prince Edward Island where she continues to train for competition and has also added some part time work to her schedule. She speaks to preschool to school aged groups conveying her love of sport and leading fun fitness activities for kids and as a keynote speaker at other events and business conferences. In this seminar she will lead skaters in a off ice session called Fun and Fitness and will also pass on motivational tips and her experiences as a top notch competitive athlete. Juliette Roberts is a well known Island dancer who has numerous theatrical credits to her name belying her years. She has peformed in shows such as Celtic Blaze, That Dance Show, Christmas Rocks  and Highland Storm to name just a few. As well as being a high school student she is a dance instructor at the College of Piping in Summerside and will lead a session on Music Interpretation for the seminar. Spaces are still available for the seminar. Skate Canada PEI is pleased to announce the 2009 PEI Fall Youth Camp (note this camp replaces the Talent ID camp held in 2008). This camp will be held at the APM Center in Cornwall, on Friday, November 6, 2009. The conductor will be announced shortly. Both on ice and off-ice sessions will be held.
